Day 1: Alicante to Geneva

Our adventure began in Alicante, Spain, where the excitement was palpable. Bright and early on a Saturday morning, at 4 AM to be precise, we loaded up our car and hit the road bound for Geneva.

The 12-hour drive was just the beginning of our Swiss odyssey. Upon arriving, we settled into the cozy Ibis hotel in Geneva, giving ourselves some time to unwind after the long journey. But not too much, as we managed to squeeze in a short evening walk and soak in the charm of the city.

Day 2: Exploring Geneva

The following day, we set out to explore the captivating city of Geneva. Its beauty and allure left us truly captivated, but we’ll be delving into the details of our time in Geneva in an upcoming post dedicated solely to this enchanting city, so stay tuned for that!

Move to Unterseen and camping

🚗 215 km from Geneva to Unterseen

As evening approached, we turned our wheels towards Unterseen, a charming town nestled between two serene lakes near Interlaken. Here, we discovered an enchanting campsite that would be our home for the next few days.

Day 3: Scaling Schynige Platte

🚂 1 hour from Wilderswill to Schynige Platte by historic train and then back

With the sun’s first rays, we set out on an exhilarating journey to explore the local mountains. Our destination was Schynige Platte, a paradise that rewarded us with stunning views of Interlaken, serene lakes, and snow-capped peaks. Our day was filled with a historic train ride, a visit to a botanical garden, a hike along a panoramic trail, and the soul-soothing sound of the alphorn.

Day 4: Rainy day and visit to Lucerne

Day 5: Interlaken’s Adventure Capital

Day 6: Grindelwald First

After another delightful day at the campsite, we set our sights on Grindelwald First, a beloved hiking destination offering awe-inspiring views. ur adventures included the First Cliff Walk, a thrilling ride on the First Glider, exploration via mountain cart and trotti bike, and taking in the beauty of Bachalpsee, where snow-capped peaks mirror themselves in crystal-clear waters.

Day 7: Valle Maggia and Lugano

Venturing into the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, we uncovered the enchanting Valle Maggia – a realm of crystalline rivers, lush vegetation, pristine mountain lakes, and towering peaks. Our stay in Lugano, a charming city, was equally rewarding, complete with a delightful dinner.

Day 8: Bern and the Journey Back

🚗 279 km from Lugano to Bern and then 1 473 km back to Alicante

As our road trip neared its end, we paused in Bern for a brief stop before embarking on the long drive back to Alicante.
